Filming and Photography

Visitors are welcome to take photographs at Quake City, but there are a few guidelines

For personal use

You are very welcome to take photos and video in Quake City provided they are for your own use and not for commercial purposes.

This includes photos of people – but please ask the permission of others – as well as our exhibitions, events, building interiors and most collection objects.

Sometimes an object cannot be filmed or photographed for cultural or other reasons, for example to protect a fragile object. This will be indicated by signage.

You are allowed to use selfie sticks, but you must seek permission to use other equipment such as tripods and monopods at least 24 hours in advance.

Contact us to seek permission.

For commercial, artistic and other uses

If you wish to take photos and video for any other use, please contact us to seek permission.

News and current affairs use

Please contact the Canterbury Museum Communications and Marketing Team.
